Taktaz Restaurant offers traditional Iran dishes that are rich in spices.
Even though Iran is part of the Middle-East, its cuisine differs slightly from the usual Arab fare.
Taktaz Iranian restaurant owner Ali Amini Fard said Iranians speak Persian and not Arabic and there even was a difference in culture.
Taktaz in Taman Serdang Perdana has been mistaken for serving Arabian dishes but Ali Amini said the differences were best seen in their food.
“Of course we do have one or two similarities. We do serve a different variety of kebab,’’ said Ali Amini, whose restaurant has been a favourite joint not only among the Persian community in Malaysia but also among the locals since it opened six years ago.
The outlet is known for its authentic Iranian food and Taktaz means ‘The Best’ in Persian.
Having worked as a cook in Iranian embassies abroad and in Malaysia, Ali Amini had to cook dishes for foreign dignitaries.
“It is no an easy task as a lot of attention is given to details that reflect the Iranian lifestyle,’’ said Ali Amini.
The dishes at Taktaz come highly recommended and, although he no longer cooks, Ali Amini’s supervision alone speaks volumes on the way the food is prepared by his experienced chefs in the kitchen.
The traditional spread comprises meat dishes like lamb, beef and chicken.
The most popular Iranian dish is Ghorme Sabzi Stew which is an Iranian herb stew.
It is an important element of Persian cuisine, often said to be the Iranian “national dish”.
The dish that uses plenty of herbs is always cooked with lamb and kidney beans.
It is served with Basmathi rice and topped with saffron, red berries and pistachios.
The chicken kebab is skewered and grilled to perfection.
As stated earlier, you can choose from different types of kebab, the best being the Lamb Koobide Kebab, a lean ground lamb glazed to perfection.
If tasty desserts are the highlights of your meal, then you won’t be disappointed by the choice of authentic Iranian desserts at this outlet.
Also give the Iranian pickles a go and take a pick from the healthy offerings of Iranian salads and condiments made from Persian spices that would surely complement your meal.
Another must have is the Taktaz special pizza consisting of lamb, chicken, mushroom, sausage, salami and olive. Finally wrap up your meal with a cup of Iranian Green Tea.
An Iranian experience that will truly leave you satiated. – By Charles Fernandez
