An essential part of the annual Malaysian Budget as laid out by the Finance Minister is the Economic Report, which provides an overview of the economic situation, evaluates performances of the various economic sectors in Malaysia for the preceding year, and projects the general economic outlook for the year to come.
Among the items referred to in the Economic Report are economic management policies, monetary policy, fiscal policy, import and export sector performances, economic sector performances, socio-economic indicators and prospects for enhancements in selected economic sectors. The Economic Report is broken down into several chapters for easy reference:
- Economic Management and Outlook
- Economic Performance and Prospects
- Public Sector Finance
- Performance and Statistical Charts
- Statistical Tables
- Investors' Guide
