A township that has it all
FOCUS ON SEREMBAN 2
By CHARLES FERNANDEZ
VICTORIA and Kepayang estates are just two of the oil palm plantations businessman Vasudevan Nambiar, 54, remembers as a schoolboy. Now, the estates are part of Seremban Two (S2).
The 930 hectare self-contained township, conceptualised by the Negeri Sembilan state government as an expansion of the current Seremban Town, is today a popular destination for families from all over the Klang Valley and Sepang, especially those working in KLIA.
Vasudevan may not be a resident of S2, developed by RB Land Sdn Bhd (RBLSB), but he feels it is an ideal place to settle down.
"Everything we need is in the vicinity and I find the location Seremban's best,'' said Vasudevan, a sentiment echoed by Choo Chee Yuen from Labu Jaya.
Today, the area offers all the modern amenities and convenience of a city, while maintaining the grace and serenity of a country atmosphere.
Jusco which started operations six months ago, is the only shopping complex and boasts of popular tenants like Starbucks, MPH, Sushi King and Sen Q. It also has a five-screen cinema hall, a bowling alley and an amusement centre.
Since Jusco opened late last year, residents no longer need to visit Seremban town for their shopping needs. RBLSB has spent RM6mil to complete a 15-acre City Park with a lake, a cycle park for children, outdoor gym stations, basketball court, an amphitheatre, lake gazebos and a futsal court.
"Social gatherings are part and parcel of this community and they are held from time to time to bring the people together in this growing housing project,'' said RBLSB sales and marketing manager Christine Wong.
Wong said since the City Park was completed in July last year, several activities have been held including mid-autumn celebrations which attracted more than 10,000 people and the longest mural painting which was endorsed by the Malaysian Book of Record on August 20.
"This was one of the community projects that involved the student and adult population of S2. Apart from this, we have the S2 carnival which is a yearly event aimed at fostering better relations with purchasers and residents,'' added Wong.
Presently, Seremban Two has a population of 35,000 and once completed, it will have a total population of 100,000.
"Most people would cherish the idea of living in a residential locality where safety and luxury are priorities,'' said Sam Tey, one of the first to purchase a property in S2 when it was launched in December 1995.
Tey said there was not much to crow about in S2 when she moved in seven years ago but with much development in the past year, this residential project has never stopped attracting enviable glances.
"I am glad I made the right choice. The streets are people-friendly with continuous walkways and cycling paths leading to neighbourhood parks and playgrounds,'' added Tey.
The RB Land office in Seremban 2. Production company senior technician Micheal Lourdasamy said he was impressed with the scenic designs of the houses.
"I fell in love with the designs, the beautifully designed landscape and its proximity to the NS highway,'' said Micheal.
The Central Business District houses a government precinct and a commercial hub, linked by boulevards to the impressive city park.
Amidst all these development is Roy's Corner, a 24-hour eatery specializing in Indian, Chinese, Malay, Western, Thai and Indonesian dishes that promises to whet one's appetite.
It's hard to believe that Seremban Two was once an oil palm estate. Today, it is a popular place with the youngsters and a place for good nightlife.
Micheal said with the opening of Jusco, there was now no need for S2 residents to go to Seremban Town where parking could be a problem.
"While everything is held in place, what is probably missing in S2 are banks. Presently, there are just two ATMs at the shopping complex,'' said Micheal.
He also said the developers must take care that too much development would not mar the beauty of the housing estate.
S2 is located 30 minutes from KL, 15 minutes from the KL International Airport and 30 minutes drive on the NS Expressway from Putrajaya. It is strategically located about 4km southwest of the existing Seremban Town Centre and 1km from the Seremban Toll Plaza
